The public is in invited to join us for a public reading of the play The Foreigner, by Larry Shue. The date for the reading is September 17 at 7pm.
It's fun and interesting to read a part of the play out loud in a group setting. You may even find yourself wanting to be in the play! Watch for audition notices. We will be casting for 5 men and 2 women.
The play will be directed by Janice Axford. Performances at the Columbia Center for the Arts will take place on February 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27 and 28.
About the Play
The scene is a rural fishing lodge in Georgia, where Froggy, a British demolition expert running a training session at a nearby army base, arrives with his painfully shy friend, Charlie. Because Charlie is overcome with feat at the thought of making conversation with strangers, Froggy tells the owner of the lodge and her guests that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Of course, Charlie hears more than he should, which fuels the nonstop hilarity and sets up for a wildly funny climax.
