It’s a birthday celebration!

Columbia Center for the Arts and The Friends of William Stafford present the “2009 January William Stafford Birthday Celebration” on Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2-4 pm at the Center in Hood River.

With the arrival of January The Friends of William Stafford once again celebrate the birthday of Oregon's most famous poet. Please help us celebrate the life and work of William Stafford.

Featured presenters are members of The Friends of William Stafford board: Leah Stenson and Barbara Young.

Guest Readers

Local poets who will read a Stafford poem, as well as one of their own works written in the spirit of Stafford's works, are:

• Leigh Hancok- Benght
• Tina Castañares
• Jon Madian
• Mimi Maduro
• Kathy Mckinney
• Bill Weiler

After the presenters, members of the audience are invited to read a favorite Stafford poem or to tell a personal anecdote about the late Oregon poet laureate.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations appreciated. Refreshments “birthday cake” will be served after the reading.
