Sacred Places

Art that captures the inner, ineffable places of spirit.

November 7 thru 30

Sacred Art

Columbia Art Gallery’s November show, titled Sacred Places, opens on November 7 at the Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River with an opening reception from 6 -8 pm.  The show features artwork that expresses a theme that is universal and at the same time intensely personal and highly reflective.

In keeping with the many shades of personal meaning the theme evokes, the show features works in a range of media including oils, watercolors, pastels, and sculpture.

Participating Artists

This show is curated by Sally Reichmuth. Participating artists include:

  • Irene Fields
  • June Manning
  • Mary Preston
  • Ethan Radcliffe
  • Cary L. Weigand

The artist’s interpretations of the theme also vary widely.  Irene Field’s watercolors identify the sacred in terms of what is essential for life.  June Gibbons Manning’s oils contain universal and personal images of transformation.  Mary Preston’s expressionistic style draws from a rich inner dream-world, while Ethan Radcliffe’s work references symbols and myths.  Cary Weigand’s sculptures also reflect spiritual symbols of varying traditions in her mysteriously evocative porcelain figures.

Artist Reception

The public is invited to join us for the opening reception on Friday, November 7, from 6-8pm.  Meet the artists, participate in the dialogue of creativity and art, and enjoy the acoustic guitar of Charles Crosman.

The show will be at the Gallery through November.
