In Celebration of Earth Day

Join artists and local organizations for an art show and related events about living lighter in our environment and propelling positive change.


Environmental Art Show

This month's art show features the works of five artists whose art reflects the beauty that surrounds us, as well as two art "installations" that reflect student perspectives about our environment. Be sure to join the ARTIST RECEPTION on Friday, April 3 from 6 - 8 pm.


Earth Day Events

There are lots of other events as well ... a parade, music, several presentations, two films and more.  Happening throughout the month in various locations. (Earth day itself is April 22nd.)

The Mother-Daughter Project

Coming Into Adolescence.


This is an evening presentation for mothers of girls between the ages of 7-13 as you anticipate your daughter’s approach to adolescence. Renee Schultz, co-author of book titled The Mother-Daughter Project, will lead the discussion. She will invite you to explore many of the commonly held beliefs about mothers and daughters, while offering a new model of connection.

A Film about Our Sewers and Their Effects

Filmmaker Jeff McKay takes viewers on an eye-opening journey around the world to explore different approaches to sewage, starting at the 2,500 year old Cloaca Maxima in Rome, where the modern concept of sewers began.

The questions explored include: Where does it all go? What effect does it have on us?

An Evening of Dance that will Blow You Away!

The “Art of Movement” returns to Columbia Center for the Arts with two performances on April 18. This year features Columbia Gorge Dance Academy’s Company Dancers, as well as Joy Dancer's Hip Hop Company and BBoyz Break Dancers.


Special Guests

Art of Movement is also proud to present special guests A-WOL Dance Collective, a dance group from Portland known for its vigorous and "accessible" style of dance ... dance that's both hip and sophisticated ... dance that's bound to thrill!

A Columbia Arts Film Series Film

King Corn is a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. According to the Boston Globe, King Corn "leaves you distrustful of everything on your plate." According to the Washington Post, King Corn is "Funny, wise, and sad."
