Presented
jointly by Columbia Center for
the Arts and Soroptimist International
of Hood River.
The
2nd Annual Women’s
Theatre Event is gearing up for
June with Soroptimist’s
of Hood River and Columbia Arts
partnering once again.
Judie Hanel,
the director, is excited to be
directing a show written by one
of her favorite playwrights, Joanna
McClelland Glass. She feels it
is clearly deserving of many accolades.
If We Are
Women premiered at Williamstown
Theatre Festival in Massachusetts
in 1993 and has since played across
Canada and the U.S., Great Britain
and Europe.
The show
traces the relationship between
a young woman writer, her illiterate
mother from Saskatchewan, her
intellectually sophisticated mother-in-law,
and her rebellious teenage daughter,
who is determined to forgo her
education for a relationship.
“Joanna
McClelland Glass delivers enough
humor, compassion and hope to
touch everyone that sees this
show.” NY Times
