Columbia Center for the Arts |
| An
African Adventure |
| A
slideshow by Richard Hallman. |
|
Adventure
half way around the world to Arusha, Tanzania
for the classic African experience... A slide
show featuring a 2 week photographic journey
beginning with a climb to the highest point
on the continent - Kilimanjaro. We climb via
the Shira route, an 8-day trek to the main "Uhuru" summit, "Roof
of Africa", at 19,344 ft. After spending
several days acclimatizing along the rim of
the Shira Plateau, a spectacular ancient volcanic
crater near Kilimanjaro, we summit at dawn under
breathtaking skies. Descending the mountain,
we embark on the epic African Safari, visiting
4 unique National Parks and Game Reserves: The
Serengeti, Nogorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara,
and Tarangiri. Come see the visual beauty and
incredible collection of wildlife captured on
this - the adventure of a lifetime.

| The
Story of the Weeping Camel |
|
| This
film is part of the Columbia Center for the Arts
Foreign Film Series, every fourth Wednesday. |
|
| The
Story of the Weeping Camel is an enchanting
film that follows the adventures of a family
of herders in Mongolia's Gobi region who face
a crisis when the mother camel unexpectedly
rejects her newborn calf after a particularly
difficult birth. Uniquely composed of equal
parts reality, drama, and magic, this film is
a window into a different way of life and the
universal terrain of the heart. (Subtitled,
but great for kids.) Click here for more info. |
