Curator for the show, Bill Sturman, says Swoon was conceived with the idea of Valentine’s Day in mind. He said the show is for sweethearts and has romantic appeal. “It’s all beautiful art, including jewelry, pastels and watercolors, furniture, photography, ladies’ fine millinery … and it all has a touch of romance.”
As for the anniversary celebration, Sturman adds: “We love our new gallery and art center, and the community seems to love it, too. What better way to celebrate an anniversary than with a show that says I love you.”
Participating artists include four well-known Mid Columbia jewelry artists: Janice Axford, Hood River Valley; Nelsie Davis, White Salmon; Terry Kinney, Underwood; Leila Prestia, Wind River Valley.
Also on display will be photographic images from Lisa Warninger of Portland and Richard Hallman of Hood River.
Georgette Jones of Hood River will be displaying several watercolor and pastel images.
Other art to be featured includes custom-crafted furniture from Fred Paxson of Trout Lake, and ladies’ fine millinery by nationally-known milliner Patricia Shypertt of Hood River.
Quarterly sponsor for the Center, Norman and Jeannette Mayer, make SWOON possible.
