Show Opening . . . Columbia Art Gallery

Glass Month in the Gorge

Nationally and Internationally Acclaimed Glass Artists
to Show their Work in the Columbia River Gorge

Art lovers don’t need to travel to New York or Santa Fe to find glass art created by world-renown glass masters. They only need to visit the Columbia River Gorge during the month of June.

Beginning June 2 and culminating on June 30, the Gorge Chapter of the Oregon Glass Guild and the Columbia Art Gallery are collaborating to present “Glass Month in the Gorge.”

Glass month includes a “Gallery of Masters” art show at the Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River, OR, featuring six nationally and internationally acclaimed glass masters who hail from the Pacific Northwest; tours of artist studios in select locations throughout the Columbia River Gorge; displays of glass art in retail business; and numerous artist workshops.

According to Glass Month organizer Mark Dane, “Glass Month in the Gorge is one more example of how the Gorge is becoming a destination place not just for its natural beauty and sports, but for art as well.”

Organizer Linda Steider adds: “All six of the world-class glass masters have previously visited the Gorge and given glass art lectures here. They each feel that the Gorge is a great place to visit, and are happy to have an opportunity to show their work here. Those of us putting on the show feel privileged to have such well-known and talented people visiting our communities.”

Artist Reception

Events kick-off with an artist reception at gallery on Friday, June 2, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The public is invited. The opening forum includes a special opportunity for meeting the artists, and for learning about their passions and techniques.

Music will be provided by the “Edelweiss Irregulars” featuring Rusty O’Toole, Dusty Bonz, and Hot Walter Fawcett. This irregular group of musicians thrills listeners with music that is eclectic, romantic, funny, toe tapping, mesmerizing, different, and above all else, fun.

The opening also includes drawings for original glass art. Wine and hors-de-oeuvres will be available.
