‘Winterglow’ Art Show:

A Special Holiday Twist

Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River launches the holiday seasonwith an art show different from its standard monthly show. Called ‘Winterglow,’ the show features a wide range of art items that can serve as special gifts.

Artist Reception

The public is invited to the festive artist reception on Dec.1 from 6:00 to 8:00.  Appetizers will be served; beer and wine will be available.

Art ranging from holiday ornaments and other handcrafted items, as well as a range of jewelry and other wearable art will all be available. A new line-up of paintings and ceramics will also be on display.

Gallery manager Catherine Kiewit says that a gift of art, no matter how expensive or inexpensive, is always a gift with special meaning. “People generally don’t think about buying a work of art when it comes to gift giving.  But people who give gifts of art are basically saying that they care about the person so much, and know them so well, that they wouldn’t want to give them the same old ordinary kind of gift.”

Kiewit says: “This holiday season, get gutsy. Buy that special person a thoughtful gift of art . . . and keep in mind that the holiday gift you purchase at Columbia Art Gallery is also a gift to a local artist.”

In recognition of the holiday season, the Center will be open daily from Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Normal winter hours, Wed. through Sun., resume on Dec. 27.

This show is made possible by generous contributions from Dr. Allan and Kae Henderson, as well as from Ann Marie Jelderks, in memory of Sara Jelderks.
